If you are a housewife or a stay at home mom, what does your husband do for a living?

stay at home
Jess ♥Happy to Be Mrs. G♥ asked:

I am interested in answers from women who are supported by their husbands. What does he do for a living? How much does he make (if you are comfortable saying so)? Where do you live?

I am currently staying home but am looking for employment. In the future, I would love to be a stay at home mom. I appreciate everyone who answers sincerely.

I am a stay at home mom, but sorry I am not going to post what my hubby does or how much he makes. But what I can say is that before we started having children, I worked and we paid off a lot of debt so I can stay home now and enjoy my children. :)

I make only about [email me] a year as a computer programmer. My wife is involuntarily unemployed since January, and so has effectively been a stay at home mom for nearly 9 months now. We are operating a few hundred per month in the red, so she’s going to have to get a job in the next couple of months, hopefully before 2009. We live in the Atlanta suburbs.

We could live on my income if we scaled back, but our lifestyle is set up for two incomes. If you want this lifestyle, be prepared to make some sacrifices. For example, I think we’d probably be in the black (albeit barely) as matters stand if we stopped eating out altogether on Friday nights, always waited for movies to come out on DVD, stopped drinking and smoking, and got rid of our cell phones.

  11. Maryn Bittner Says:

I stayed home after the second child came. My husband is a legal editor making five figures, although where in the five figures I’m not comfortable saying.

We did not have as much income as friends and neighbors with both parents working. We were on a tight budget and our kids didn’t get some of the perks the more well-to-do kids had, like travel, summer camps, private music or dance lessons, etc.

They did, however, get a full-time mom who made them her number one priority for many years. They’re now young adults, both college graduates, never in any kind of trouble, avid readers, able to manage money, and other good stuff.

So yeah, I gave up a lot, but I got to raise our kids the way I wanted to. Worth every penny I didn’t spend.

From 1992 to 2005, I was married and had one child.
My wife was a stay at home mom, and I worked.
I was the only source of income for these years.

I was printer making 7.50 hr.and the scale raised until $14.00 hr.

We even sent our daughter to a private school.

I was a stay at home mom but now that our little boy has started per school I have started school once again.

But I guess you could say that I am still a stay at home mom because I do not contribute to the household financially.

He cares for himself me and our two little ones solely on his salary.

We have a comfortable home that is three bedrooms just the right size for our family but we are looking for something bigger because we are hoping for one more little one in the next two years.

He is an Aircraft Tech and he works for an Aircraft Company.

He makes about 72,000 a year and when I am done with school I will get a job and help out.

We are doing okay for now and I send you best wishes and good luck.

I have the option of staying at home. My husband is in the Army and he makes enough to support both of us, but we don’t have any children and he is out of the state for 4 months. I think I’d go crazy if I wasn’t working.

  16. j. jakes mom Says:

I am both and my husband is auto body repair/painter for almost 24 years and didn’t know just how good at it he is until recently. I live in the southern states. I am thinking about going to work at the first of next year.

  17. Daddy's Girl Says:

I’m a stay at home mother of 3 (17, 7, 4) Child support and benefits are paid by my ex-husband and I’m supported by my common law husband. I love my life! Mainly because my new love is such a hard worker and understanding of my desire to raise my children, take them to soccer, football, baseball, cooking & cheer leading. He is a medical equipment supplier, distributor, import/export. Financially he is doing very well!!! :)

  18. Erix_Fiance Says:

My Fiance is a licensed CDL otr Driver. I was a house fiance who did ebay and went on the road with him at times, but being someone who’s worked since 15 years old, I have GOT to get out of the house and get a job, even if it’s part time O.O

I have already said that when we have kids, I will not miss their first year or so, so we better have a good plan for me to be a house mom( we know by then he’ll be home more as well) But that’s not for another couple years, we still have to get marriage out of the way LoL.
