Do you live in California and talk on your cell phone while driving?

cell phone cash
vixen asked:

Then you might want to think again. Because as of July 1st 2007 a bill just passed and if you are caught, it is a $500.00 fine. Yikes! Just letting everyone know in case some people might have missed this important cash draining information.
Oops, you guys are right I was misinformed. This however, is a fact which I researched and found: Effective July 1, 2008, the legislation prohibits drivers from using a wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle unless the driver uses a hands-free device. Drivers who violate the law will face a base fine of $20 for a first offense and $50 for each subsequent offense.

No, and No :-) But the same is true in Washington state. Phoning and driving is statistically as dangerous as drinking and driving!

People around here can barely walk and chew gum at the same time. If you ever get behind someone doing 30 in the fast lane of a freeway here it’s not because they’re drunk or are having car troubles…it’s because their on the phone. I think the fine should be $1,000 instead of just $500.
